Google Allo Messaging App Officially Launched For iOS And Android

Google has launched the much awaited messaging app (Allo - announced back in May) that is set to rival and throw the spanner in the works for Facebook messenger!

While Facebook messenger has been around since forever and has been integrating cool bots to their platform, Google Allo comes holding hands romantically with the best/most useful bots of all: google search bot!!!

We all have been waiting for Allo since its I/O announcement back in May = and finally it is available for downloads!

Allo comes as a twin to Google's video calling app: Duo which is pretty cool, user friendly and easy to use regardless of your internet connection strength.

Similar to Google Duo, Allo is tied to your phone number instead of your Google account.

While Duo is a dedicated video calling app; Allo is a dedicated Instant Messaging app similar to the likes of WhatsApp and Telegram.

  • Group chatting
  • Stickers packs
  • Messages expiry option
  • Dedicated Assistant akin to Google Now - which can readily answer your questions and queries with the '@Google' command.

The Google Allo messaging app however is still "intentionally" missing some features which Facebook owned Whatsapp has i.e video and audio calling, hopefully that would come with future updates
