Facebook Partners With BBC To Launch Live Audio Broadcast!!!

Social media platform, Facebook has launched another new addition to the platform's audience connection options.

Facebook has today announced the new broadcasters and publishers can connect with their audience on the Facebook platform and it is via audio i.e audio-only broadcast.

This new feature is launched in partnership with two top British media partnerships i.e BBC World Service and talk radio broadcasters LBC as well as authors Adam Grant and Britt Bennett and publisher Harper Collins.

With this new feature, Facebook pages that want to broadcast live (videos) contents in areas where there is low network reception are provided with an alternate streaming option, with audience being able to offer live comments and reactions while listening to the broadcasts similarly to Facebook live video broadcasts.

Below is an excerpt from the official Facebook press release:

"We know that sometimes publishers want to tell a story on Facebook with words and not video. We've even seen some Pages find creative ways to go live and reach audiences with audio only by using the Facebook Live API or by adding a still image to accompany their audio broadcast. Our new Live Audio option makes it easy to go live with audio only when that's the broadcaster's preferred format".

"We also know that publishers sometimes go live from areas that lack strong network connectivity. Though we alert the broadcaster if their signal is low, Live Audio presents another option for connecting with audiences in real time from low-connectivity areas".

Facebook had earlier in the week added Live 360 videos feature to the platform.

The new audio broadcast is set to be particularly benefiting to media outlets (with BBC leading the line) as well as publishers and authors who are now able to connect with their audience on the social network platform via book readings and interviews.

Facebook remain keen on expanding the gap between their unique and global social networking platform and other social networking platforms.

And trust me, the gap is very wide!

I doubt Facebook plans on resting on its laurels, with more additional features set to hit the platform come 2017
