HTC Announces U-Ultra & U-Play Smartphones: Cool Specifications And Features

HTC has launched their first couple of smartphone devices for the year i.e HTC U Ultra and HTC U-Play with both these devices having an all-glass design and being infused with artificial intelligence.

The HTC U Ultra is a 5.7-inch display smartphone with an added feature of a second ticker display on top of the phone (measuring 2.05 inches and having a 160 x 1040 resolution). and its screen(s) comes protected a Gorilla Glass 5 shield.

The device is powered by Snapdragon 821, 64-bit quad-core SoC while carrying a worthy 4GB RAM alongside 128GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD).

The device impresses camera wise too, featuring a 12MP HTC UltraPixel 2 OIS camera (1.55um pixel size) and an awesome 16MP selfie snapper.

The HTC Ultra packs a 3000mAh battery which is respectable and also features Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

The HTC U Play on the other hand is a 5.2-inch display smartphone (which does not feature a second ticker display), powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 chipset and packing 3GB of RAM alongside an expandable internal 32GB storage.

The HTC U Play packs a cool 16MP back camera (optically-stabilized f/2.0with phase-detection autofocus).

The battery on the U Play is on the low side at 2500mAh but it supports fast charge so that's a small consolation.

The U Ultra features a unified USB-C port as against the usual headphone jack, while also having its own AI integrated with its secondary display (allowing voice and touch interactions without powering up the primary screen).

HTC Ultra will be available for pre-order at $747 (about N337,000) with available color variants being black, white, pink and sapphire.

The U-Play pricing is yet to be announced but it would be available globally by or before the second quarter of 2017 with pricing expected to be in the $400 - $500 range (N180,000 - N225,000).
